TVS has just introduced a new dual-disc brake variant of its popular Raider 125, priced at ₹ 93,800 (ex-showroom, for the SXC DD version).

This marks one of the most feature-rich updates in the Raider lineup to date, bringing several “firsts” to the 125cc commuter class in India.

Key Highlights & Pricing

  • The SXC DD (with reverse-LCD instrument cluster) is priced at ₹ 93,800 ex-showroom.
  • There is also a TFT DD variant (with full TFT display and additional features) priced at ₹ 95,600 ex-showroom.
  • This dual-disc Raider is marketed as the “most advanced” 125cc Raider yet.

What’s New / Improvements Over Earlier Raider

Dual Disc Brakes + Single-Channel ABS

The most headline-grabbing change is that the Raider now comes with disc brakes on both front and rear wheels, along with single-channel ABS (on the front). This is being positioned as a segment-first move, enhancing braking confidence and safety under harder deceleration or slippery conditions.

Boost Mode (via iGO Assist)

Another major addition is a “Boost Mode” that gives a short torque surge during overtakes or acceleration spurts, especially useful on traffic-laden stretches. This is enabled via the iGO Assist platform.

Glide Through Technology (GTT)

To improve low-speed usability in city traffic, TVS has added Glide Through Technology (GTT). This helps the bike creep along smoothly without frequent throttle or clutch modulation.

Tyres, Stance & Design Tweaks

  • The tyre spec has been revised: 90/90-17 in front and 110/80-17 at the rear to increase grip and road contact.
  • A new metallic silver + red livery with red accents and red alloy wheels is introduced.
  • It retains features like LED headlamp + LED DRLs, a “Follow-Me” headlamp function (which keeps the lamp on briefly after switching off) as seen in premium bikes.

Engine & Performance

  • The engine is unchanged — it is still a 125cc, three-valve single-cylinder unit.
  • Peak torque remains at 11.75 Nm @ 6,000 rpm, which is class-leading.
  • Power output stays in line with other Raider variants (roughly in the 11–11.4 hp region).
  • The addition of Boost Mode gives riders a momentary torque boost for overtakes, complementing the existing performance envelope.

On riding dynamics, the wider tyres and better contact patches are expected to improve grip, cornering stability, and confidence. The disc brakes at both ends add security during sudden braking.

Connectivity & Instrumentation

TVS retains its SmartXonnect connectivity suite in the new variant. Depending on the variant you pick:

  • SXC DD gets a reverse LCD cluster with 85+ features.
  • TFT DD gets a full-colour TFT display with 99+ features.

Through the displays and SmartXonnect, users can access Bluetooth connectivity, voice assist, turn-by-turn navigation, call handling, notification access, etc.

Prospects & Market Positioning

TVS is clearly positioning this dual–disc Raider as a premium, tech-forward choice in the 125cc sporty commuter space. With features like Boost Mode, dual disc brakes, GTT, and connectivity features, it attempts to blur the lines between performance and practicality.

Its distinct styling updates and bold colour accents aim to appeal to younger, tech-savvy riders. TVS’s own statements during launch emphasize that the Raider has already appealed strongly to Gen Z riders, and this upgrade is meant to further strengthen that appeal.

On the competition front, getting dual disc brakes (with ABS) in this segment gives Raider a safety and performance advantage over many rivals with drum rears or single disc setups. Whether this translates to sales success will depend on real-world ride feel, reliability, service, and resale.
